How to install a tonneau cover
- Read the user guide first (the instruction manual comes with the package). This guide will help you to determine which methods are suitable for your tonneau cover. If you don’t have a guide, then check some of the features used below to find out if your tonneau cover has them.
- If applicable, attach cover’s rails to the bed of your truck. However, if it’s an over-the-bed liner, you will have to cut into it.
- Align the rails together and tighten the mounting hardware accordingly. The mounting parts may or may not be included in the package.
- Install the accessories that may have been included such as the seal; for both the tailgate and cab-side.
- Place the top of the cover evenly above the rails.
- Look out for any problems in the sealing surfaces such as bulging or gaps which are clearly visible.
- If drainage tubes were included, connect and reroute them to all corners of the bed.

How to remove your tonneau cover
Sometimes, you might want to remove your tonneau cover for cleaning or maintenance. The soft tonneau cover is easy to remove while the hardcovers require a little effort. Steps taken to remove the tonneau cover may vary from one cover to the next. Some covers are installed using a firm adhesive, while others must be attached with nuts and bolts such as hydraulic truck bed cover.
- Open the tonneau cover and search for the attachment points of cover
- Remove the shocks with a screwdriver, and on the tonneau cover, remove the clips which attach the shock mounts.
- Get rid of the pins and then remove the bolts on the hinges to allow you to unfasten the tonneau cover.
- Get it off the truck when the tonneau cover is finally out. Then take the cover down carefully to avoid any damage on it or your vehicle.
